National Nursing Home Week Celebrated at Putnam Ridge

Putnam Ridge is proud to celebrate National Nursing Home Week’s “Spirit of America,” which begins on May 14th, to recognize the dedication of its skilled nursing and rehabilitation staff, and the patients and residents they care for.  Celebrations will kick off early on Friday night with a who-done-it type “Mystery Theater” dinner on Friday, May 12th, 5:30PM, with live entertainment of the Acme Theater Company out of Poughkeepsie, that is open to the public.  Tickets can be purchased for $50 by calling Putnam Ridge at 845-278-3636, with proceeds supporting the Putnam County Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association. Then, Putnam Ridge will be honoring its staff with a proclamation issued by Brewster’s Mayor James J. Schoenig recognizing the contribution of Putnam Ridge to the greater-Brewster community.  This year, the American Health Care Association’s national theme is ‘Spirit of America,’ is the perfect way to show support and respect for the special individual in our community and the staff who provide care or support services.

 

A traditional American Mother’s Day celebration on Sunday, May 14, will include an old-fashion apple pie and ice cream party with entertainment by the very popular serenades of Bob Martinson.  Following that on Monday, also with the Spirit of America theme, Putnam Ridge will have a Western cowboy hoe-down social, complete with hot, homemade chili and cornbread to delight the tastebuds.  Then, the week will continue by getting crazy ready for “Crazy Hat” day with staff and residents donning hats from all walks of life and enjoying International coffees and trivia.  Wednesday will focus on Patriot’s day with the wearing of red, white and blue, and a staff appreciation luncheon that will knock their socks off.  Thursday’s Jazz entertainment is by the very special, “All that Jazz” ensemble who will pick up the spirits with classic foot-thumping music and a huge array of delicious hors d’oeuvres.  More fun games and super trivia on Friday with rounding out the week on Saturday, May 20th, with entertainment you won’t want to miss! Putnam Ridge will welcome the one and only “Elvis Tribute” by the wonderful Patrick Perone as he entertains the crowd in the Great room with his deep, soulful voice.

 

Raffle baskets will be on display from May 12th through May 21st and is open to the public at Putnam Ridge.  Proceeds will help support Putnam Ridge’s “Sunshine Club” and the drawing is May 22nd at 1 PM.  Many of the week’s programs are open invitation for those who would like to join us.  Please call for times and availability before attending.  We welcome the community to share in our celebrations and to honor the spirit of both the residents and staff.  For more information, please feel free to contact Pearl Murphy at 845-278-3636 for more information.
